Where is the best value in Online Poker

I know there are quite a few players on here that play online, so am curious on your feedback..

Where and what game/structure/buy-in do you find most profitable online?

For me, I play all my online poker on FullTilt (though have played a bit in the past on PokerStars and Ultimate Bet). I used to play the $3 and $10, 90 runner KO tourneys a lot, however I found my most profitable market is (and where I play about 80% of my poker now) in $5, $6 & $10 SnG\'s, usually I play 6 handed, though I will go up to 18 on the odd occasion and are for the most NLHE and an occasional Omaha Hi game.

I have done fairly well at bOth these limits and structures so have stuck with it (and it was scary just how accurate the Card Academy video on our site pointed out the play in these limits, I encourage everyone to take a look at it), though like any game..you can adapt to it.

My only other area\'s of play are an occasional $26 tourney (I usually play tournament token SnG\'s to get in these) and if I feel up for it...I\'ll play live cash, but only 5/10c limits.

Where do you make most of your $$$ online, what works for you and why?...would love to hear everyones feedback.

PS - If anyone is looking for a game on FT feel free to look me up.... PM ALLOUT

Re: Where is the best value in Online Poker

hello Allout,

it is good to hear you are doing well playing online...

the answer to your question depends on several things.....

1. is your bank roll..
2. is what games you are going to be playing most often.

the imprtant thing no matter where you play is to have good Bankroll management.. about 20 or more buyins to what ever you play regularly..and not to buy in for more than 2% of your BR into multitable tournys...(im going by ferguson's BR management rules here...which i think is great)

if you have a small bankroll and are going to play cash mostly go to stars....

if u have a good few hundred ..and are able to play 25nl or higher.....some sites like PKR are notoriously weak...and you will be swimming with a lot of fish.

in SNGs tilt and stars is good i think... (i dont really like SNGs but i like the structure on tilt and stars)....especially if you are good at HU sngs....tilt can make you a lot of money very very quickly.

if u ever play cash games on tilt..i suggst playing in 25nl .....i find these games easier to beat than 10nl as  almost everyone in 25nl plays a very predictable TAG style...

...from what I am told by a friend....in NLHE BODOG and tilt have some of the better players....this does not apply to micro stakes though....as everyone is pretty awful at those stakes..

ultimately......if you are winning player.....you should be able to win in any site....just be careful when moving up.. especially in cash games.....because the games get very tough as they get higher...and are getting tougher and tougher everyday..

i was also told that if you are good at Omaha or O8, or stud possibly ....to try sites like prima...apparently those non-US sites are very weak at other games.

sorry for the long reply.. hope it helped

Re: Where is the best value in Online Poker

I've played a few places and recommend stars.

To begin with I never liked stars, i never liked the no frills feel of it. Now I LOVE it as it doesn't take your attention away from the game.

I make my money on multi-tabling $3.40 10man sng, mostly 4 at a time and when I've had a few coffees 8 at a time (I have a dual monitor set up at home). Payouts of $15, $9, $6 are not bad for as lately I will around 60% at least double up on my buy in.

I also play the $4.40 180man sng alot and continually make ft pretty easily although the payout structure doesn't really pay you off unless you make top 3 in my opinion (eg. 7th pays $25, which is about 3.5% of the prizepool, a significant difference away from the nominal 4-5% I'd expect for a 180 man tournament). I tend to have 2 of these running at once while maybe tabling some 10man sng on the side.

The great thing about tournaments is that it's a long term outcome you are after. You only need to win 1 tournament out of maybe 50-100 tournaments you ahve invested into to make a profit and I am sure that you will cash in a few of those along the way anyway.

From my understanding Chris Fergusons bankroll management he used for his 'experiement' was no more then 2% for mtt buy ins and no more then 5% for ring games. Mind you he only used this for his '$0-$10,000 experiment' but I am unsure if he uses this theory with his real bankroll. As I only play stt or mtt I give myself a 5% limit on buy ins as I do not have a cash game limit to compensate for.

All out, looks like online not going so well for you recently.

Give me a shout if you want me to review any hand histories, I mostly play the 45 man on stars, but might be able to give you some tips.

Either that or start posting some hands that give you trouble.

Re: Where is the best value in Online Poker

Allout thanks for this post, I recently watched The Card Academy Video that Caxman posted. Prior to watching this Video i had never really bothered with any online Sitn'goes at all, but after watching the vid i instantly gave a $3.40 one a go and cashed easily and thought ok i'll go a $5. I was watching Nicolau's Video a second time at the same levels i was upto in the live $5 sitn'go i was playing and followed the same betting patterns he used and funny enough i dominated totally from whoa to go. It wasn't rocket science just a great video that all should watch.

I really want to watch more videos like this as for me i get way more out of it than reading through someones life story in a Poker book:).

Well The raw truth of it for me is this!!

After watching the Video i nervously got out my credit card for the 1 Millionth time.I then made one of my smallest deposits i have made on Stars of $27 U.S. My Bankroll management was not great at first as i was playing 2 high But went st8 to around $120 US in the first day after a few succsecfull sitn'goes and used the same betting patterns in a live 10c/25c ring game played pretty strong and turned my 25 Buyin into 85 and left prompltly. In the following few days made a bankroll mgt plan and went only into 5/10c ring games but found them frustrating and yep found my self down 2 the felt again... for the umpteenth time.

There are many problems i've encountered whilst playing online the main one for me is probably discipline especially in cash games which is what i enjoy most. I have found myself involved in hands where im certain i was robbed due to players collusion tactics (this is a huge problem in cash games on all sites). But still i persist and try and battle the masses.

In closing i will say that i am still a losing player but have showed some improvement of late and these videos would be great to access more often.

I would probably be ahead if i only stuck to sitn'goes and tourneys, however cash games are way more entertaining, if only i could limit my losing sessions to nil i would be laughing all the way to the bank.
