Part 1 - Early beginnings
Most people around town know me now as a poker player... but a few years ago before I began playing poker in December 2006... I was known for being president of the strongest and largest chess club in Australia... The St George Leagues Club Chess Club...
As a smart little kid I was sneaking into the Leagues Club at the age of 12 playing on a Tuesday night against adults... Cards were not even part of my make-up back then... it was kings and queens... e4 e5 Nf6 notations... At 17, I left chess but returned to the game at age 27. My second coming was pretty short lived (3-4 years). It was ultimately poker and cards that pulled me away from the chessboard. But the mathematical and analytical application would serve me well in my newly chosen hobby.
My introduction to live tournament poker came from the NCS region. I was introduced to the game from one of the guys that I played chess with... Belmore RSL was my first game... I don't really remember much apart from it was mid-December 2006.. I thought my game was pretty good... but looking back i really didn't know much... I was eager to get my first points, my first final table and my first win... it didn't matter what venue, what region or what suburb that first win came at... I was determined to just pop a win... (this attitude still serves me now 450 or so game later...)
More to come...
